Financial & Insurance

We strive to provide you with quality orthodontic care that fits in your budget! We offer a variety of payment options to help meet your specific needs. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express, as well as offer financing options through CareCredit® to help make your treatment more affordable.

As a courtesy to our patients, we also offer discounts for payments made in full prior to the onset of treatment. Advanced payment saves time and expense in billing, enabling us to pass the savings on to you.

For families experiencing financial difficulties, we make special arrangements on a case by case basis. Please call Angela at (304) 252-0771 if you have questions, or would like to discuss any of these payment options.

Insurance

If your insurance covers orthodontic treatment, you will receive the benefit of reduced personal costs. Many insurance policies have a lifetime orthodontic benefit that is distinct from regular dental insurance. Remember that insurance policies vary, and we will review your insurance to determine the appropriate course of action. Once treatment has started, we will file your claims.

To help us with your insurance filing, please complete the insurance questions on our questionnaire.

Please remember that orthodontic insurance is a benefit for you or your child. If, during the course of treatment, your benefits change, the financially responsible party is accountable for all charges.

Common Insurance Questions

  1. How do I learn about my dental benefits?
  2. What is a pre-determination?
  3. What portion of the initial pay does my insurance cover?
  4. Why doesn’t the insurance cover more?
  5. Whose insurance is primary (filed first), if we have two insurance policies?

1. How do I learn about my dental benefits?

Refer to the dental benefits section of the insurance booklet that should have been given to you by the Personnel Department of your employer. If you are unable to find the information or locate your benefits booklet, ask your company’s Personnel Department or call the 800 number on the back of your insurance card.

If you have questions or need help understanding something, feel free to bring the information to our office and our financial team will be glad to assist you.

2. What is pre-determination?

Pre-determination is when the orthodontist will submit a form to your insurance company to determine an estimate of coverage of the procedure that will be performed. This is not a guarantee of payment, but only an estimate of coverage; any portion of the procedure not covered by insurance is the responsibility of the patient. This pre-determination will help you determine the amount of the bill for which you will be held responsible.

3. What portion of the initial pay does my insurance cover?

Normally, insurance companies will pay 50 percent (usually up to $750) of the down payment and any monthly charges that may occur, until your maximum lifetime benefit is reached. This means, you (the patient) will be responsible for the remaining 50 percent of the down payment and any charges that exceed your lifetime maximum.

4. Why doesn’t the insurance cover more?

The sole purpose of insurance is to help alleviate the financial pressure from large bills. Unfortunately, not all insurance policies cover the majority of your treatments. Although, we have no control over your insurance policies, we do recommend you and your co-workers join together to request better coverage from your employer.

5. Whose insurance is primary (filed first), if we have two insurance policies?

We determine the order of filing by which parent’s birth date is first in the calendar year.

Upon receiving payment from the primary insurance, we submit a claim to the secondary insurance company with a copy of the response from the primary insurance provider.
